Get More Twitter Followers in 5 Steps

Internet Marketing
In today's hectic world it's very difficult to effectively position your business in the market. Social media channels are swarming with lots of competitors and you will need to double your efforts to reach hot prospects. Twitter, for instance, is a great platform to market your business. We all want more followers on Twitter, and we want to increase our followers fast.

However, the idea of launching a major Twitter campaign may be a little daunting; especially since most small businesses are already so busy with the day-to-day operations and chances are they don't have an entire marketing department to handle the task.

However, there are some small things that you can do that can have a big impact on your Twitter presence and getting more Twitter followers. In today's article we're going to list 5 simple things you can do to get more Twitter followers and grow your presence on Twitter.

1) Create a list of great content producers.

Actually, I can probably make it easier than that; subscribe to a Twitter list of great content producers that are within your niche. I guarantee there are a few lists out there already. Why subscribe? Because it can save you a whole lot of time creating that list yourself.

But whether you decide to create a Twitter list or subscribe to one, having a list of industry leaders makes it easy to find their content to share with your audience. Ideally you should be sharing a lot of your own content. However, even if you mostly do content creation, you'll still gain new Twitter followers by being someone who shares great content consistently.

On top of that, sharing these industry leaders' content frequently will help you get on their radar, which can only help you get more exposure; especially if they reciprocate and share your own content in return.

2) Optimize your bio for keywords.

If in your Twitter bio you write all about your love of dogs and mountain biking, it's going to be awfully hard for people to find out that you're an expert at making landing pages that convert or that you're a marketing guru. The point is having a Twitter account doesn't necessary mean you will be found. But setting your account with the right keywords will reveal your presence to those who search for you.

It's absolutely okay to include personal details about your life; it helps people to connect with you on a personal level, but make sure you include titles and keywords that would help your ideal audience locate you if they were searching for someone with your skills.

3) Use images in your tweets.

They don't have to be fancy. Just take a couple of minutes to create a picture in Canva or WordSwag and share it to Twitter. Trust me, it'll be worth it. Numbers show that images on Twitter get 18% more clicks, 89% more favorites and 150% more retweets.

4) Tweet during peak times.

You're doing the work tweeting, just make sure that you're tweeting when the majority of your followers are on Twitter. Tweeting when your audience is online increases the chance that they will find you, add you to lists and share your tweets.

QuickSprout determined that the best times to post are dependent on whether you are a B2B or B2C business. For B2B Twitter users, weekdays provide 14% more engagement than weekends. For B2C users, engagement and CTRs are highest on the weekends and Wednesdays. However, there's no such thing as one size fits all, so make sure you test what works best for your industry and your audience.

5) Leverage your other social media profiles.

Make sure that you have a Twitter button on your website. Ask people to follow you in your email blasts or mention it in your blog posts. Cross promoting with your other social media profiles and website is a great way to expand your presence on Twitter without a lot of extra effort.
