Branding
is simply of way of differentiating your product or service. It's a set of
multiple things created so people choose your business over everyone else's.
These
include visual, emotional, rational and cultural ideas.Overall, it's the
intentional declaration of who you are, what you believe and why your people
should put their faith in your services and products. These strengths are
called 'brand values'.
A brand
becomes valuable when people start to have positive expectations towards it. It
makes their decisions easier and enhances the value and satisfaction they
derive. In you pursuit to build your brand, you may fall in one or more of
these mistakes; in this article we're going to highlight these mistakes.
1) Lacking a social media plan.
Using social media effectively means you must navigate
carefully because just as social media can make a business it can break one as
well. Ensuring your social media messages are consistent is the easy part,
resonating with your audience by executing a social media strategy will put
into action goals that track progress, media status, and content strategy all
of which can influence social media success.
2) Failure to identify your Market.
Defining your target market narrows down to identifying some
common needs and desires of your current customers and targeting similar people
however, knowing how your product or services benefit different customers in
different ways allows you to widen that gap. By consistently learning your
customer's needs and refining your tactics you may find your market is larger
than you thought.
3) Engaging in negative feedback.
Your brand helps you stand out and get noticed, engaging in sensitive
topics encourage negative feedback which can harm your brand's reputation.
Getting too personal can turn off your followers, so to play it safe with your
social media profiles, stay clear of personal topics like religion, politics
etc...
When it comes to branding, there are several common mistakes
that pretty much every entrepreneur makes at some point. Including myself!
Understand that building your brand will take time and consistent effort and
monitoring. Rome wasn't built in a day!! Here is a list of the most common
mistakes I see in business, and a few that I made myself early on in my
entrepreneurial career.
4) Hiring the wrong people.
If you are outsourcing your social media account activity
finding the most qualified person or agency for the job requires someone who
can share your values and your voice in a way that you do. The only way to
accomplish this without doing it yourself is by working with someone you trust
on an ongoing basis otherwise taking the risk with someone unqualified or
inexperienced can be costly to your reputation and brand.
5) Not creating engaging content.
Being sincere and appealing to a specific audience requires
an approach that is tailored to meet the needs of the audience it reflects.
Using content or drafting information that does not benefit the customer is
useless and can be misleading. Sharing information and releasing new ideas
gives the audience an informative balance it also gives you the opportunity to
reach new visitors and improve traffic.
6) Using unnecessary social media platforms.
By researching where your audience can be reached you will
discover where you need to focus in your social network. Every single social
network does not target your particular audience. Multiple social media
networks can be a good idea but be sure they are not consuming time that can be
spent elsewhere.
7) Fear of starting.
Fear is only in the thought that you create however in your ability you can. Remove the thought and you have removed the obstacle standing in your way. You can do it, I know you can.
